Really interesting, thank you Jim. I've always been fond of using scarlet thread in my embroidery, and grew up hearing the phrase "the scarlet thread of redemption which runs through the whole of Scripture" frequently quoted from the pulpit.
In my teens (just after the Sound of Music film was released) I read MVTs writings. It seems a shame that this thoughtful and deeply spiritual woman was reduced to a cheerful, singing, Nazi-defying childminder by Hollywood, when there was so much more to her character.
