Thanks Jim, a excellent and reasoned post. I have found myself wondering whether the BBC has (deliberately or otherwise)subverted its own stance by the amount of news coverage it's given to its decision not to broadcast the appeal. When every half hour you are told 'we aren't going to show this but ITV are' the item somehow becomes more attractive. Also, had they shown the appeal no one would have gone looking for it, they'd just have seen it if they happened to be watching at the right time. So, whilst I agree with you, I'm half hoping there might have been some 'mysterious ways' in all of this.
