Thanks for your reflections on this tragic weekend of violence. More Palestinians (many of them civilian) killed on one day than all the British forces who have lost their lives in Afghanistan in 7 years.Is it too much to hope that a new American administration might bring some more pressure to bear in terms of finding a workable peace. I don't see much progress happening without such a change. Thank's for all your bloging throughout 2008. all the best for 2009 Duncan

I've enjoyed reading your blog since I found it a few weeks ago - and I've benefited from reading this one. I can't imagine the horrors of living in Gaza just now, and when I feel safe with my family I think of these weeping women on the TV screen and freeze.

Hello again Chris, and thanks for your encouraging comments. I've enjoyed your own blogs since I started chasing round some of the poetry blogs.

This post is a sort of lament, even a prayer of outrage. At Israel whose own history (and faith tradition) cries out against merciless attack - and for Palestinian civilians, whose lives are deemed disposable by Hamas pursuing suicidal military engagements - again contrary to the principles of Islamic faith. So I pray..... and hope...
