Sad news. Placher is one of those theologians I keep stumbling upon. He's been on my "must read more of him" list for a while now.

Thanks for this Jim. Narratives of a Vulnerable God was a formative book for me, and Placher had the distinctg advantage over many of his post-liberal colleagues in that he could write. His passing is a loss.
